Alamo Gold Rental Conditions 2008
1. Minimum age: All drivers must be at least 21 years of age. In all states drivers 21-24 years of age will pay a supplement of $25.00 per day plus tax. In New York State and Michigan the minimum rental age is 18 years and drivers 18-24 years inclusive will be charged an additional 'recovery fee' of $49.37 per day plus tax. The minimum driver age in Canada is 21 years (25 years in Province of Newfoundland) drivers 21-24 will be charged C$25.00 per day plus tax Underage Fee.
2. Driving Licence and identification: All drivers must have a valid UK driving licence. An International Driving Permit is not acceptable. The renter's passport is required to prove identity. Drivers with the new UK two-part licences must present both parts of the licence when collecting the car. A valid credit card in the renter's name is required.
3. Additional Drivers: Additional drivers may be added to the rental at no charge provided they comply with the terms of the agreement and provide a valid driving licence and passport. Underage drivers will only be charged the Underage Fees - see 1. above.
4. Deposit: A major credit card will be debited for any incidental charges. Alternatively, a cash deposit of $100.00 per week/$25.00 per day can be left as security. Cash deposits for rentals in New York shall only be made in the form of Cashier's Cheque, Traveller's Cheque or Money Order (not cash!). Cash customers should contact Alamo prior to making their reservation for information on Alamo's current cash qualification requirements.
5. Rental Charges: Rental charges are calculated on a 24-hour basis, i.e. if you collect the car at 9am on day 1 it will be due back by 9am on the last day. Late returns will be charged at the local hourly, half-day or daily rate - a 29 minute grace period is allowed, after which charges will apply.
6. Overstay Fee: If a renter extends the rental any time after the vehicle has been picked up at the rental location, regardless if an additional voucher is presented, a fee of $10.99 per day (plus tax) will be payable locally in addition to the applicable rates. These fees will be payable by the renter.
7. Rental Prices Include: Alamo Gold rates include Collision Damage Waiver, Unlimited Mileage, Liability Cover (see below), State and Local taxes, Airport Imposed Fees, additional drivers and 1st tank of petrol (pick up full - return empty). Not included: One-way rental fees, child seats, voluntary upgrades, underage driver supplements, taxes on optional items.
8. Liability Cover USA Rentals: Alamo Gold rates provide the renter and authorized drivers up to an aggregate, single limit of US$1m for claims that may be made by others against the renter and authorized drivers for bodily injury, death and/or property damage arising out of the use or operation of Alamo's rental vehicles. Also included is an Uninsured Motorist (UM) benefit of up to an aggregate, single limit of US$100,000. UM provides benefits to the renter and any family member related by blood, marriage, or adoption, who, while physically occupying Alamo's rental vehicle when it is been driven by a renter or authorized driver, suffers bodily injury or death caused by a negligent uninsured mororist, or negligent hit-and-run driver. Canadian Rentals: Alamo Gold rates provide the renter and authorized drivers up to an aggregate, single limit of C$1m for claims that may be made by others against the renter and authorized drivers for bodily injury, death and/or property damage arising out of the use or operation of Alamo's rental vehicles.
9. Collision Damage Waiver: Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) removes all financial responsibility for damage to, or loss of, the car as long as the terms of the rental contract are not violated. In New York State CDW is not available and the renter is liable for damage repair costs of up to $100. CDW is included in Just America's Alamo Gold rates (except New York rentals). Canadian rental drivers in the 21-24 yr age group are responsible for the first C$500 damage to the vehicle and drivers over 25 yrs are responsible for the first C$300. Please note: Collision Damage Waiver is null and void if damage to, or loss of the vehicle, results from driving on unpaved roads.
10. Taxes: Alamo Gold rates include all taxes and state surcharges on all items included in the Alamo Gold rates. Items not included in Alamo Gold rates such as one-way rental fees, underage driver supplements, child seats and voluntary upgrades will be subject to tax.
11. Fuel: A full tank of unleaded petrol will be provided at the start of the rental. Cars may be returned with an empty fuel tank at no charge.
12. Child seats: Child/infant seats are required by law in most states for children under 6 years of age. Child/infant seats must be requested in advance and are charged at $6.99 per day plus tax payable at the depot. A refundable deposit of $50.00 is also payable.
13. Ski racks: Ski racks must be requested at the time of booking and are charged at $7.50 per day plus tax.
14. One-way rentals: One-way rentals must be confirmed in advance. One-way rentals may be subject to an Inter-City Fee (ICF) which is payable locally plus tax. There is no Inter-City Fee for rentals picked up and returned within the state of Florida, or within the state of California. In addition Just America clients will not be charged an Inter-City Fee for rentals picked up and returned between California, Arizona and Nevada, or between Washington State and California (or vice versa), Toronto and Montreal and between Vancouver and Calgary. Just America has negotiated a special Inter-City Fee of $150 for rentals between Denver and Phoenix and Denver and California - a saving of $150 off the normal fee. Inter-City Fees for other combinations are available on request. One-way rentals not allowed for EC & E4 cars.
15. Roadside assistance: Multilingual roadside assistance is available 24 hours a day by calling free on (USA) 1-800-803-4444 or (Canada) 1-800-407-4411. In case of serious mechanical failure, Alamo will replace the car as quickly as possible. If minor repairs are authorised by Alamo, you should obtain a receipt so Alamo can reimburse you at the termination of your rental. If you are involved in an accident, a police report MUST be obtained and you must advise Alamo immediately. Please note that if the rental vehicle is damaged Alamo reserves the right not to provide a replacement vehicle. In addition, Roadside Plus can be purchased locally for US/CA5.99 per day. This gives protection against the items that are not covered under your standard 24 hour roadside assistance including key replacement, glass replacement, tire replacement and towing.
16. Cars: Cars are reserved by category only and not by specific make, model or colour. Alamo reserves the right to substitute similar or larger cars at no extra cost. All cars have air conditioning, radios and are automatic. When reserving your car please consider the size of the car in relation to the number of passengers, the amount of luggage you intend to carry and the distances you intend to drive. While it may be possible to carry four passengers in an EC car (Economy 2 door) it is certainly not possible to carry four suitcases and hand luggage in the boot. Roof racks are not available. Certain car types have very limited luggage space, such as convertibles and 7-seater people carriers.
17. Driving areas: Cars can be driven in any state of the USA and in Canada. Cars may not be driven in Mexico. Cars, including 4-wheel drive Sports Utilities may not be driven on unpaved roads. Renters intending to drive to ski areas during the ski season should advise Just America at the time of booking. Ski racks can be hired at a charge of $7.50 per day plus tax from certain depots. Snow chains are not permitted on any rental vehicle and you may therefore be restricted from driving on certain roads in the winter months.
18. Early returns: No refunds will be made for cars returned early.
19. Important note: Rates may not include a Customer Facility Charge (CFC) and/or Homeland Security Fee (HSF) which is payable, where applicable, by the customer at the time of rental. Legislation or regulations or the cost of fuel may affect Alamo's pricing or proceedures. On all Alamo Gold rates, Alamo reserves the right, without notice to charge customers, at the time of rental or thereafter, for the amount of any additional or increased surcharges, fees, taxes or increased fuel costs. Rental terms, conditions and prices are subject to change without notice and may vary by location.
