Day 1. Arrive Jacksonville, Florida.  For guests spending the previous night on Jekyll Island, an airport transfer from Jacksonville airport to the Jekyll Island Club is included.  Your tour begins upon arrival at Jacksonville International Airport, where you will be met at 3pm and transferred to Jekyll Island on the Georgia coast.  Jekyll Island is a National Historic Landmark District.  Enjoy the welcome reception and dinner at your Victorian hotel, which was opened in the late 190th-century as a hunting retreat for the rich and powerful - Jekyll Island is a Georgia travel highlight. 2. St. Simons Island / Savannah.  Tour Jekyll Island's 240-acre historical district, including Faith Chapel and Rockefeller's Indian Mound.  Travel to neighbouring St. Simons Island, hosting expansive marshlands.  Your Georgia travel experience continues in Savannah where you'll admire the elegant architecture and the geometric city design, with 24 park squares featuring live oaks draped with Spanish moss.  It's one of the country's most graceful cities and designed by - James Oglethorpe from Godalming in England.  Experience a memorable private evening featuring Savannah's Madeira traditions at the Davenport House Museum and dinner a elegant 45 Bistro in the Marshall House Hotel.   Meals BLD

3. Discover Savannah. Meet your Savannah guide for a city tour and a visit to the Ships Of The Sea Maritime Museum. You will also take a private tour of the Juliette Gordon Low birthplace.  Sightsee Savannah. General James E. Oglethorpe created a unique building plan for the city of Savannah centered around twenty-four green squares - America's first geometrically designed city. More than 1,000 historically and architecturally significant buildings were restored in Savannah's historic area, making it the largest landmark district of any city in the country; the city's entire restored area is a registered National Historic Landmark. This afternoon and evening are free; wander Savannah's waterfront where 19th-century cotton warehouses are now an assortment of craft and gift shops, boutiques, taverns, art galleries and museums. 4. Ft. Pulaski / Hilton Head. Visit Fort Pulaski National Monument, whose construction marked the beginning of Robert E. Lee's military career and later played a significant role in the Civil War. Continue to Hilton Head Island for lunch and overnight. This beautiful island is bordered by one of the few unspoiled marine estuaries on the eastern coast of the U.S., and is the largest sea island between New Jersey and Florida. Arrive at your hotel mid-afternoon; enjoy miles of beaches ideal for beachcombing, featuring picturesque harbors. Have dinner a la carte tonight at your resort, where you'll enjoy Ocean View accommodations.  Meals BLD

5. Beaufort / Charleston. You will have time to take one more walk along Hilton Head Island's beautiful beaches this morning before continuing along the South Carolina coast to the coulourful town of Beaufort, the "Queen of the Carolina Sea Islands".  Enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride and explore sights rich in history and seaside charm in Beaufort's National Historic District and waterfront, the setting for over a dozen movies including Forrest Gump, The Big Chill and Prince of Tides. Continue on the Charleston, one of the south's most beautiful cities and South Carolina's first capital.  A private harbor cruise reveals centuries of maritime history.  Dine tonight at a choice of fine Charleston eateries. 6. Explore Charleston. Reminiscent of the Old South, Charleston is steeped in history and has reigned as one of the country's most important seaport towns; the first shot of the Civil War was fired just off the city's harbour.  Step back in time this morning on a guided sightseeing tour that takes you along old cobblestone streets by the harbour, by shaded courtyards, and by walled gardens where fragrant scents of jasmine and wisteria fill the air; see a parade of historic sights, from pre-Revolutionary War buildings to graceful antebellum homes that embody the genial grace of days gone by.  Spend the remainder of the afternoon at leisure, pursuing what interests you most.  The city's extraordinary period architecture is highlighted by a 789-acre historic district preserved to showcase its 300-year history.  You might choose to explore the older section of  Charleston, visit the Gibbes Museum of Art, "The Old City Market", or take a tour of Fort Sumter, where the Civil War began.  Lunch and dinner are on your own today; you may want to sample the city's famous she-crab soup at one of the charming sidewalk cafes. 7. Plantations / Gardens. Within a few miles of Charleston you'll visit some of the finest 17th and 18th-century plantations and gardens. Cross the Ashley River and travel on roads canopied by oaks draped with Spanish moss to Drayton Hall, a plantation built in 1738. The house was never modernized, and is an outstanding example of Georgian Palladian architecture. The grandest of the Ashley River Plantations, Middleton Place is home to one of America's oldest landscaped gardens and a masterpiece of formal gardens. See the mansion, built in 1755, and visit the plantation stable yards, where you see 18th and 19th-century artifacts and craft exhibits, prior to returning to the city of Charleston. 8. Journey Home. Tour ends: Charleston. Fly home anytime. Hotel check-out is 11:00 AM; allow a minimum of two hours for flight check-in. Since persons depart at different times an airport transfer is not included. Meals B
