1. Arrive Halifax Tour Begins: Delta Barrington at 5:00pm. Welcome to Halifax, one of the first English settlements in Canada, and the capital of Nova Scotia. The city is steeped in centuries of maritime history replete with 19th-century architecture featuring Georgian and Victorian influences. Landmark attractions viewed on a city orientation tour include historic buildings along the waterfront, Victorian homes, lovely greens, the Halifax Citadel, and the sights along the bustling harbor. We invite you to join us this evening for a special welcome reception at Pier 21, an interpretive center that traces the path a 20th-century Canadian immigrant would have taken. Meals: D
2. Lunenburg / Peggy's Cove . Travel through small villages and harbor towns along the Atlantic shores to the fishing village of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Closely tied to maritime pursuits such as shipbuilding, fishing and privateering, the 19th-century houses are often timber-built and colorfully painted. Choose either a walking tour of Lunenburg along streets that have changed very little in 250 years, or a visit to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, where the unique fishing heritage of Canada's Atlantic Coast is explored. En route to Halifax visit Peggy's Cove, a quaint fishing village; the town's picture perfect charm is an artist's dream. All who love the ocean will enjoy the panorama of countless islands and coves.
