Day 1. Arrive Halifax Tour Begins: Delta Barrington at 18.00 hrs. Welcome to Halifax, one of the first English settlements in Canada, and the capital of Nova Scotia. A transfer is included from Halifax International Airport to the Delta Barrington Hotel. The city is steeped in centuries of maritime history replete with 19th-century architecture featuring Georgian and Victorian influences. Landmark attractions viewed on a city orientation tour include historic buildings along the waterfront, Victorian homes, lovely greens, the Halifax Citadel, and the sights along the bustling harbor. Day 2. Lunenburg / Peggy's Cove. Travel through small villages and harbor towns along the Atlantic shores to the fishing village of Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Closely tied to maritime pursuits such as shipbuilding, fishing and privateering, the 19th-century houses are often timber-built and colorfully painted. Choose either a walking tour of Lunenburg along streets that have changed very little in 250 years, or a visit to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, where the unique fishing heritage of Canada's Atlantic Coast is explored. En route to Halifax visit Peggy's Cove, a quaint fishing village; the town's picture perfect charm is an artist's dream. All who love the ocean will enjoy the panorama of countless islands and coves. Day 3. Historic Halifax and an exclusive evening at the Citadel. After a day spent exploring Nova Scotia's provincial capital and the largest city in the Maritimes as you please. Day 4. From Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island. Bid a termporary goodbye to Nova Scotia as you ride a ferry to Prince Edward Island. You'll be mesmerized immediately by many miles of beaches and rich farmland in the interior. Learn about the fragile sand dune habitat on Greenwich Peninsula, and view the salt marshes and bluffs along the coast at Prince Edward Island National Park. Arrive in the provincial capital of Charlottetown for a two-night stay; visit Founder's Hall, with state-of-the-art exhibits showcasing Canada's history, and settle in at your hotel just steps from Old Charlottetown's boardwalk. 5. A National Park& Anne of Green Gables. You'll find yourself immersed in local culture throughout the day on Prince Edward Island as you view the Green Gables House, the old farmhouse immortalised in Lucy Maud Montgomery's cherished 1908 novel, Anne of Green Gables, and dig into a traditional lobster dinner, a must-have experience. Tonight, cap a very special day by attending a musical theatre performance of Anne of Green Gables at the Charlottetown Theatre Festival (season permitting) Meals: BD
6. Digby / Annapolis Royal. As your travel adventure continues, cross the Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick and on to Nova Scotia again. Visit the Habitation at Port-Royal Historic Site, a reconstruction of one of North America's earliest European settlements, which recreates life here in the early 17th-century. Continue on to a two-night stay at a golf resort in Digby, built in 1929 overlooking the Annapolis Basin and the Bay of Fundy. Meals: BLD
7. Whale Watching / Leisure. Journey today to Digby Neck, a long, narrow peninsula of land nearly surrounded by water. The high tides of the Bay of Fundy make the waters wildlife rich; enjoy an opportunity for some of the best whale and bird watching in the world (weather permitting). 8. Journey Home. Travel through the fertile farmland of the Annapolis Valley to Grand Pré, principal site of the Acadian expulsion in 1755; the event became the inspiration for Longfellow's poem Evangeline. Tour ends: Halifax Airport at 11.45 hrs. Allow a minimum of two hours for flight check-in. Those who desire more time to explore Nova Scotia should inquire about pre-and-post tour accommodations.
