WAIKOLOA BEACH MARRIOTT, Kohala Coast, Hawaii

This is a most pleasant and family-oriented resort hotel, situated on 15 acres of tropical grounds and just a few moments’ walk from the beach at Anaehoomalu Bay, with adults and children equally well catered to. Although the hotel is not one of Marriott’s more exclusive properties, it does represent excellent value and carries with it all the hallmarks of Marriott’s excellent reputation for providing quality accommodation and facilities.
 
The 545 guest rooms all have one kingsize or two double beds, private bath, shower and wc, air conditioning, coffee maker, iron and ironing board, hairdryer, bathrobes, in-room safe (nominal fee), telephone with voice-mail, colour cable TV with in-room pay-movies and your own private balcony or lanai.

There is a choice of on-site casual dining venues, with the main restaurant being ‘Hawaii Calls’, which is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and features both American and Pacific-Rim style cuisine. The ‘Kona Blue Sky Coffee Co’, serves breakfast daily and, as the name would suggest, specialises in the world-famous and locally produced Kona coffee. The poolside ‘Nalu’s Bar & Grill’ opens for lunch and offers sandwiches, salads and other light snacks whilst of an evening, the ‘Clipper Lounge’ will not only soothe you with live entertainment and cocktails but also serves light bistro fare after 5pm. For a real treat, the Royal Luau takes place twice weekly, on Wednesday and Sunday evenings and this wonderful Hawaiian tradition parades the flavours, music and traditions of the islands.

Outdoors, the Waikoloa Marriott offers adult and children’s swimming pools, with hot tub and whirlpool available for the grown-ups. Nearby activities also include horseback riding, a bike trail, scuba diving, snorkelling, tennis, volleyball and golf whilst back on-site, pampering may be the order of the day at the ‘Hawaiian Rainforest Resort & Spa’, where bookable treatments on offer include massages, facials and body wraps.

Across the street can be found the Kings Shops, an upscale shopping and dining complex and an added attraction of the Waikoloa Marriott.
