Omni Parker House
This hotel is truly a Boston historical landmark as well as being one of the city's top hotels. The oldest continuously operating hotel in America has certainly witnessed first-hand much of the
country's history. It was here in the hotel's Parker's Restaurant that a young John F Kennedy proposed to Jackie Bouvier. Vietnamese leader Ho Chi Mihn worked in the kitchen between 1911 and 1913 baking the hotel's famous bread rolls. Malcolm X was employed at the Parker House as a busboy at the time of Pearl Harbor before he went on to become a Civil Rights activist in the 1960's. Being so closely situated to the Massachusetts State House, much of the state's politics was conducted in the hotel's restuarant and bars. In the mid-19th century Charles Dickens marvelled at the splendors of Boston's finest new hotel. Dickens resided at the hotel between 1867-68 and performed the first American public reading of 'A Christmas Carol' during his stay.
Today the Parker House still oozes that quality and charm that has attracted guests since its opening in 1855.
