The Farm By The River

New Hampshire, White Mountains Region

PRICES

The Farm By The River is set in 70 scenic acres with spectacular mountain views on the Saco River, 2 miles from the town of North Conway.  This is a great base from which to explore the White Mountains region.

The Inn has 10 charming guest rooms all with private baths, some with two-person jacuzzis and/or fireplaces; air-conditioning, hair dryer, iron with board, free wireless internet access.  A full breakfast is included, served either on the patio deck with views to the gardens, or by the fireplace in the cooler season.  The Inn has a friendly, comfortable, yet upscale atmosphere, and oozes old-fashioned ambiance with heirlooms passed down through generations.  Some of these include White Mountain art, hand-painted photographs, hardwood floors, oriental rugs and Empire period furniture.  Two large common rooms - one with a 4-foot high fireplace, the other with TV/DVD/VCR.  Phones and TV's have deliberately been omitted from the guest rooms.  There is a guest phone in the Inn - local calls are free.  In addition to the full country breakfast each morning, there are afternoon refreshments including fresh baked treats.

The Farm has an interesting history having been part of a land grant from King George III in 1771.  Rick Davis, a direct descendant of  the orginal land grantee, and his wife Charlene, run the B&B in the colonial farmhouse built in 1785-86 and horse stables on the original grant site.

The tradition of faming has continued since 1771 and animals (22 resident horses) are housed in the barns built in 1771-71.  A cover crop is still grown, and fields are hayed.  On-site activities at the Farm include horseback riding (year-round), carriage rides, wagon rides, victorian sleigh rides, fly fishing, river swimming, snowshoeing and nature walks.

This lovely farm and Inn provide the ideal relaxing base from which to explore the beautiful White Mountains including the Conway Scenic Railway, the outlet shops of North Conway and the wonderful dining, theatre and cultural activities in the nearby towns and villages.  This is a year-round destination with great skiing at several nearby ski areas, incredible Fall colours and lovely Spring and Summer seasons.
