Combine the fabulous Rocky Mountaineer 2-day train journey through the spectacular Canadian Rockies with the freedom of a 13-day self-drive tour and you have an unbeatable combination.

This 15 day/14 night self-drive tour operates daily (subject to Rocky Mountaineer train schedule) between 01 June and 30 September.

Please note that due to the Calgary Stampede the tour price will be subject to a supplement for Calgary arrivals between 03 & 13 July - prices on request.

Day 1. Arrive Calgary. After arriving at Calgary's International airport make your way to your hotel in the heart of Calgary where your holiday begins. Overnight: Sandman Hotel Downtown (Standard) or Fairmont Palliser Hotel (Superior)

Day 2. At leisure in Calgary. A full day to enjoy the attractions and shopping of Calgary.
Overnight: Sandman Hotel Downtown (Standard) or Fairmont Palliser Hotel (Superior)

Day 3. Rocky Mountaineer Train Calgary to Kamloops. Its "All aboard" at Calgary's station this morning as you join your Rocky Mountaineer train for the two day journey through the Rockies to Vancouver. Today the train takes you through the town of Banff, the Banff National Park, through the Kicking Horse Pass and over the Continental Divide, past Shuswap Lake and into Kamloops. Here you disembark and spend the night in an hotel before rejoining the train the following day. At Kamloops, passengers have the option of taking in the Two River Junction Buffet Dinner and Musical Revue at Kamloops instead of dinner at the hotel (additional cost) pre-booking essential. 
Overnight: Rocky Mountaineer allocated hotel.

Day 4. Rocky Mountaineer Train - Kamloops to Vancouver. From the interior of British Columbia the train follows the Thompso
n River westwards through beautiful landscapes to the Fraser Canyon and on to Vancouver. The combination of the stunning scenery and the super service provided on the train makes for a memorable holiday. On our Superior accommodation choice passengers travel in the famous Dome Car as part of the Rocky Mountaineer Gold Leaf Service. Gourmet breakfasts and lunches are served in the Golf Leaf Dining Room, complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic beverages aboard, dinner at the Kamloops hotel and a Rocky Mountaineer commemorative Golf Leaf pin complete the service. After arriving at the railway terminus in Vancouver make your own way to your downtown Vancouver hotel for the next three nights.  Overnight: Century Plaza Hotel (Standard) or Pan Pacific Hotel (Superior).

Days, 5 & 6. Vancouver. Two full days to explore this lovely city, Chinatown, Stanley Park, Robson Street shops, Gas Town, and much more. Optional day excursions to Victoria and Vancouver Island can be prearranged for you at additional cost. Overnight: Century Plaza Hotel (Standard) or Pan Pacific Hotel (Superior).

Day 7. Vancouver to Whistler (77 miles). Collect your car from Vancouver airport on the morning of day 7 and take a leisurely drive north of Vancouver to Whistler. A world-famous ski resort in the winter months, Whistler has much to offer during the summer. The views from the top of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains are breathtaking. For the more active visitor there is hiking, mountain biking, golf, tennis and fishing. Overnight: Crystal Lodge (Standard) or Fairmont Chateau Whistler (Superior).

Day 8. Whistler - Clearwater (250 miles). Driving through the Rockies today you pass through the towns of Lillooet and Cache Creek before passing though Kamloops and on to Clearwater. Your drive takes you on a different route from the one you travelled on the train, but the scenery is just as impressive and with the car you can stop and admire the views. In the afternoon arrive at Clearwater - gateway to Wells Gray Provincial Park. Overnight: Wells Gray Inn (Standard) or Helmcken Falls Lodge (Superior).

Day 9. Wells Gray Park. From your base at Clearwater you have a full day to explore and enjoy the wonders of Wells Gray Provincial Park - a pristine wilderness of forests, mountains and lakes. There are optional guided excursions into the park available from your hotel (we recommend pre-booking). Overnight: Wells Gray Inn (Standard) or Helmcken Falls Lodge (Superior).

Day 10 Clearwater to Jasper (210 miles) The journey to Jasper today takes you past the towering peak of Mount Robson - the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies. Take your time today and enjoy the journey through the spectacular Canadian Rockies. Overnight: Lobstick Lodge (Standard) or Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (Superior).

Day 11. At leisure in Jasper. At Jasper there is much to do and see. Optional excursions are on offer to take you to Mount Edith Cavell - one of the most fascinating areas in Jasper National Park with ice caves, waterfalls and Lake Forgiveness. Explore the town, take the Jasper Aerial Tramway and be sure not to miss the stunning views at Maligne Lake. Overnight: Lobstick Lodge (Standard) or Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge (Superior).

Day 12 Jasper to Banff (160 miles). The Icefields Parkway which links Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff has been accurately described as the most scenic highway in North America and it is not difficult to see why. As you leave Jasper on day 12, stop and take an optional tour by SnoCoach onto the Athabasca Glacier, an exciting trip that allows you to walk on the glacier and even drink a cup of water fresh from the melting glacier. Continue south along the Icefields Parkway stopping at the many scenic points along the way including Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and finally Banff. Overnight: Douglas Fir Lodge (Standard) or Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (Superior)

Days 13 & 14. At leisure in Banff.  With two full days to enjoy the town of Banff and the Banff National Park, you will have time to take a leisurely raft ride on the Bow River, take a horse-ride, hike or drive through the national park, browse the shops in Banff, relax in the thermal hot springs, challenge yourself with a round of golf on the famous Banff Springs course, take the aerial tramway to the top of Sulphur Mountain and enjoy the superb view. Overnight: Douglas Fir Lodge Lodge (Standard) or Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel (Superior)

Day 15. Banff to Calgary (80 miles). Finally, it's time for the last leg of your journey, a leisurely drive back to Calgary, with time for final shopping before boarding your flight home.
