This ranch is probably a family's dream of what a ranching holiday is all about. Run by folks who vacationed here themselves four times and then went on to run the place, Cherokee Park caters to all ages and all riding abilities. Their accommodation is a mixture of fully serviced multi-roomed suites within the lodge or cabins that take anything between one and six people.

Dining is a family affair in the main lodge. Several times a week there are cookouts featuring steak, ribs or chicken. A limited drinks licence means its best to bring your own wine and beer from nearby Fort Collins.

The ranch offers around 80 horses and while quarter horses are the main supplier of transport, some Tennessee Walkers have been introduced. Cherokee Park caters to all its visitors riding needs and a number of rides are available every day. Scenic rides both morning and afternoon alternatively a more energetic rip up into the mountains. There are lunch trips that travel all day and an overnight pack trip during the summer to give that camp-out experience.

Kids are Cherokee Park's speciality with counsellors available throughout the week. Split into two age groups, 3 to 5 and 6 to12, they will be kept entertained all day with wildlife hikes, fishing, nature studies, art and crafts. None of this is compulsory, simply part of the service at the ranch. If you have youngsters even younger than three, the ranch has a deal where you can bring your own baby-sitter free of charge!

Rivers play an important part in the life of any ranch, at Cherokee Park the Cache La Poudre offers entertainment for all whether you are after the fine brown trout that lurk in the quite waters or further down where Class 2 and 3 rapids can be enjoyed in 6 man rubber rafts. An independent outfitter is used to offer this fun filled trip that runs May through September

And for those who want something more sedate there are hayrides, sing-a-longs and stargazing, you can do as little or as much as you like.

The ranch is open from May to September and stays are from Saturday to Saturday. Transfers are available from Fort Collins (approx. 30 miles). Denver is the nearest international gateway airport - approx 100 miles south of Livermore.
